AAMSU lodges FIR against parents, ‘qazi’ for child marriage in Lakhimpur

Guwahati/Lakhimpur, August 28: All Assam Minorities Students’ Union (AAMSU) registered a case against the parents and the qazi for performing the marriage of 17-year-old minors.

The marriage of both the girl and boys is 17 years and their marriage was once performed at 11 pm in Borchola, Lakhimpur.

The complaint has been registered against Usmaan Ali, Rashidul Haque and Qazi Jahirul Islam. The FIR has been lodged at the Naobochia Police Outpost.

It can be mentioned that the AAMSU has created a network of activists on the social media platforms – Facebook and WhatsApp across the state to locate incidents of child marriage and prevents such weddings from occurring.
