Apple’s event is taking place practically later today where the Cupertino company is expected to unveil the new generations of the Apple Watch and iPad Air. The event that Apple calls “Time flies” is likely to cause the Apple Watch Series 6 as the showstopper that will be the successor to the Series 5 mannequin. Alternatively, the hearsay mill has also suggested that the Apple event can be the place where the company could unveil an affordable Apple Watch version that may be perhaps called the Apple Watch SE. Apple might also unveil its new iPad Air mannequin. Nevertheless, the company is not likely to unveil the anticipated iPhone 12 series at the event and may host a separate event for the new iPhone models.
Apple event timing, live stream details
Apple will host the Time flies event practically — just like how it hosted WWDC 2020 in June. The event will begin at 10am PDT (10:30pm IST) today and will be livestreamed through the committed Apple Events site in addition to YouTube. You’ll also watch the event live from the video embedded below.
Apple event announcements expected
While Apple has continued the trend of maintaining silence on what’s coming at today’s event, the hearsay mill has suggested what we will be able to expect from the Apple event.
Apple Watch Series 6
One of the crucial key announcements at the Apple event today will be the Apple Watch Series 6. The next-generation smartwatch by the Tim Cook-led team is rumoured to have a built-in blood oxygen meter to measure oxygen levels — alongside offering pulse tracking and heart rate monitoring. You’ll also expect a faster processor to deliver an enhanced performance. Further, the new Apple Watch is likely to keep the 40mm and 44mm sizes that debuted with the Series 4 in 2018. It would also feature an always-on display that used to be first seen on the Series 5 in the lineup final year.
Apple Watch SE
Alongside the Apple Watch Series 6, Apple is rumoured to have plans for the affordable mannequin that it could call the Apple Watch SE. This new mannequin is likely to make the competition tougher for the likes of Fitbit, Huawei, and Samsung that each one have given a range of smartwatches to counter the Apple Watch lineup. You’ll expect both 40mm and 44mm variants in the SE series, along side GPS beef up. The Apple Watch SE could also be tipped to have cellular variants, though you would not get always-on display and ECG functionality.
iPad Air 4 aka iPad Air (2020)
The third announcement that would take place at today’s Apple event would be around the new iPad Air that is likely to be the successor to the iPad Air 3 that debuted in March final year. The new mannequin could feature a design very similar to that of the iPad Pro circle of relatives and offer a larger screen-to-body ratio. You’ll also expect the omission of the traditional, Touch ID-equipped home button. Further, the iPad Air 4 that may officially arrive as the iPad Air (2020) is likely to lack probably the most core features of the iPad Pro — despite having a similar feel and look.
Excluding the new products, Apple is likely to spill the beans on its unified subscription offering that would be called the Apple One. The new offering may begin with a basic tier that would offer Apple Music and Apple TV+, while its pricier version would supply extra access to Apple Arcade. It would also add Apple News+ to the bouquet in the next tier. In addition, Apple may offer an enhanced iCloud storage
Companies including Google and Microsoft have offered service bundling for their subscription-based services and products up to now. Alternatively, Apple may leverage its strong presence in the hardware world to scale its unified subscription offering.
