Guwahati: In a major rescue operation, the team of Assam Police personnel on Saturday rescued the two businessmen namely Kushal Kalita and Jayanta Kachari, who were kidnapped by some miscreants from the Rani Garbhanga reserve forest area on June 30, 2021.
Both the kidnapped businessmen were rescued safely in the Rani forest along the Assam-Meghalaya border, on the outskirts of Guwahati.
Throughout the rescue operation, some of the kidnappers received a bullet injury in the leg, Assam director general of police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta informed while confirming the news on his official Twitter care for.
The state DGP also mentioned that the operation against the kidnappers is still on.
“Kushal Kalita and Jayanta Kachari have been rescued from the kidnappers in Rani forest area by our courageous @assampolice personnel just infrequently back. In the operation, one kidnapper has been shot. Operation ongoing. Will post details soon,” DGP Mahanta tweeted on Saturday evening.

Notably, Jayanta Kachari is the more youthful brother of former BTC executive member Ganesh Kachari.
He’s also stated to be the brother-in-law of Assam Meeting Speaker Biswajit Daimary.
Furthermore, Bhadrewar Timung, some of the kidnappers, was once also nabbed by a team of police, led by the deputy commissioner of police, west police district, Guwahati.
Earlier, the kidnappers reportedly demanded ransom for the secure release of the duo.
