Assam’s COVID-19 positivity rate drops to 3.26%


Guwahati: The day-to-day COVID-19 positivity rate in Assam has dropped till 3.26%. Even thought the state recorded 44 more deaths in the final 24 hours, the recovery rate inched up to 86.97%.

On April 24, the state’s COVID-19 positivity rat used to be 3.24% but tomorrow it jumped to 5.48%. Since then, the positivity rate has never dropped below 4%. But on June 1, the rate dropped below 4%.

A complete of 3,781 new COVID-19 cases were detected on Saturday, as the health branch carried out 1,15,968 COVID-19 tests.

Kamrup Mtero district that covers Guwahati city continues to show remarkable improvement as the day-to-day cases further dropped to 276 on Saturday.

Of the new cases, Cachar recorded the highest infections with 322 cases, followed by Kamrup metro, Dibrugarh with 273 and Tinsukia with 267 cases, among others.

The deaths recorded are 6 from Nagaon, 5 from Kamrup metro, 4 from Kari Anglong, 3 every from Sivasagar and Sonitpur, among others.
