CM Sonowal hints of lockdown in Assam whether situation worsens

Guwahati: Amid rising COVID-19 cases across the state, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal appealed before the people of Assam to stringently adhere to the COVID protocols in an effort to steer clear of any more or less lockdown in the state.

Speaking to media persons, CM Sonowal said, “Having a look into the present situation, we have already issued directives which shall remain in force till April 30, 2021. We request the citizens of Assam to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 protocols in an effort to lessen the crisis situation. We aren’t in favour of imposing any lockdown in the state, but, whether the current situation continues to deteriorate, then we might have to go to that stage as polite.”

As on April 23, the state has recorded a hop of 2,384 fresh COVID positive cases. The complete number of active cases now stands to 12,595.
