Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan, one of the respected voices in international cricket, on Monday acknowledged that the players are more than aware of the horrific nature of the COVID-19 pandemic which is claiming hundreds of lives out of doors the bio-bubble. With the second one wave of the pandemic wreaking havoc, IPL is witnessing player pull-outs because of fear of bubble fatigue at one end and a beneficiant donation of USD 50,000 to shop for Oxygen cylinders from Pat Cummins.
“It’s challenging and things must be managed for the players and staff, and we realize the horrific nature of what is happening out of doors the bubble,” Morgan said after playing a match-winning knock against Punjab Kings on Monday.
“We try and lend our toughen and we’ve seen how devastating it isn’t only in India but world wide. If you are going out stay secure, wear a mask, care for social distance. We’ve seen immense amounts of hard times, even at home. On behalf of KKR, we would like everyone polite. We will stick together, we will be able to whip this object,” Morgan said.
On the game front, Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul used to be furious with an underwhelming performance from his men as they could score only 123 for 9.
“I in point of fact do not know what to say, it used to be a bad performance from us,” Rahul said.
“We must have adapted better on a new pitch, we could have applied much more with the bat and get that additional 20-30 runs. The wicket used to be a bit low and slow, but 120-130 used to be not enough. A couple of soft dismissals costing us the game,” Rahul added.
