BTC secretariat building
GUWAHATI: In his last-ditch attempt, Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) president and former Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) ex-chief Hagrama Mohilary has asked all regional forces in the BTC to sign up for hands to form the next executive council in the BTC to withstand BJP.
Mohilary’s appeal came immediately after the Gauhati high court on Tuesday ordered a composite floor test in BTC and asked both ex-chief Hagrama Mohilary and newly appointed BTC chief Pramod Boro to prove their majority claims inside December 26.
Boro was once recently appointed as the new chief executive member (CEM) of the BTC after the coalition parties of United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL)-BJP and Gana Shakti Party (GSP) took over the charge of the council defeating the unmarried majority party of BPF.
Mohilary who was once thought to be as an ache rival of Boro said, “No matter who becomes the CEM of BTC but I urge the entire regional forces of UPPL, GSP and even Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) to sign up for hands to confine BJP from coming to power in BTC.”
He observed that the entry of a national party (BJP) in the BTC will totally get rid of the identity of regionalism in BTC. Meantime, the majority of the elected members of the recently concluded BTC polls have been touring Meghalaya. BJP claimed that they were planning and making a strategy for BTC.
