EXCLUSIVE: Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb NOT being pulled out of OTT platform, to release as scheduled – bollywood

With theatres being shut over five months now, several films have already opted for a direct-to-OTT release, and a few of the most anticipated and awaited big-budget ones is actor Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb that’s announced to release on Disney Plus Hotstar.

Then again, some reports have claimed that the movie has been pulled out from the OTT platforms, and makers have made up our minds to wait for cinemas to reopen, and release it theatrically only.

Rubbishing these baseless allegations floating around in some sections of the media, HT City has now exclusively learnt that Laxmmi Bomb is very much releasing on the made up our minds OTT platform, and as per schedule in November.

A source confirms, “No, Laxmmi Bomb isn’t being pulled out of the OTT platform. These are absolutely fake stories which don’t have any meaning. Disney Hotstar is absolutely going ahead with its plan to release Laxxmi Bomb.”

The reports also stated that the movie was once set to release on Kumar’s birthday on September 9, but this claim also turns out to be unfaithful.

“Laxmmi Bomb was once never meant to release on Akshay’s birthday, which is day after. So, the OTT platform is definitely going ahead with their plan or releasing the movie in November and the date isn’t made up our minds yet,” the source adds.

Kumar’s another movie, Sooryavanshi – that was once to release in March – was once postponed because of the onset of pandemic and it had been waiting since for a theatrical release. Though it was once announced sometime back that it would hit the big screens on Diwali, makers later said that whether theatres don’t reopen even then, they might believe alternate options including an OTT release.
