Guwahati: Amid the rising COVID cases in the state and in view of the rising death cases in Kamrup Metro district, the Inland water transport branch of Assam has suspended all ferry services and products from Guwahati to North Guwahati for the next 15 days.
The decision was once made in favour of the Assam Government’s recently issued SOP to combat the pandemic.
The order shall be effective in all other river ports in Assam.
Meantime, the ferry services and products at all three ports in Guwahati to North Guwahati will be closed until further notice.
In final 24 hours, Assam saw a decreasing trend in COVID-19 death cases, as on Thursday, Assam recorded 74 fatalities because of COVID-19.
The state recorded 6,573 new cases out of 1,02,684 COVID-19 tests conducted.
The positivity rate now stands at 6.40%.
Out of the complete 6,573 new cases, Kamrup Metro district alone recorded 1,084 cases, whereas Dibrugarh district recorded 490 cases, Nagaon 477 cases and Kamrup rural 432 cases.
Active cases in Assam now stands at 51,818 and complete patients discharged on Thursday was once 3,071.
Recovery rate stands at 84.25%.
