Government Assessing Dehing Patkai Situation: CM Sonowal


Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday claimed that the government is dedicated
towards the biodiversity of Assam and they’re assessing the Dehing Patkai

are dedicated to offer protection to Assam’s surroundings and biodiversity. No one will have to
cast aspersions on state government’s sincerity to maintain the natural beauty,
greenery and natural resources of the state. I have directed forest Minister
Parimal Suklabaidya to visit Dehing Patkai Forest Reserve to take inventory of the
actual situation and the state government would take further steps in this
regard based on Forest Minister’s outline.” Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today
said this while talking to the newsmen in Dibrugarh.

The Chief Minister today visited four quarantine facilities that have been being readied as second tier of quarantine centres for COVID-19 patients. The four centres were MDK Kanoi College, the girls’ hostel of DHSK College, Kasturba Gandhi girls hostel at Dikom Parbati Devi ME School and Asom Bidyapith High School, Chabua in Dibrugarh.

While addressing the media persons throughout his visit to the quarantine facilities, Sonowal urged the people to strictly handle COVID-19 protocols and he appealed to people who are being quarantined not to violate any quarantine rules. Violation of quarantine norms does not only impact the patients but also jeopardizes the whole society and subsequently, the government don’t have any other option but to do so against those violators of home or institutional quarantine. He also informed that state government was once taking steps to establish quarantine centres till the panchayat level and he urged the people of the state to extend wholehearted make stronger to the government in order that this outbreak of the global pandemic will also be contained.

people stranded in different parts of the country, Sonowal called on the people
not to panic having a look at the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases as the
state government was once fully capable of handling the situation. He urged the
people to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the health branch like
wearing of masks, frequent hand washing, maintaining social distance etc. for
achieving victory in this fight against coronavirus. He also requested the
people not to discriminate against those who are infected by the lethal virus
as nobody willingly becomes a virus carrier.

The Chief Minister also appreciated the roles played by MPs, MLAs and other public representatives for their efforts in creating awareness approximately COVID-19 in their respective constituencies and for supervising the efforts of the district administration and the health branch in this an important period.
