Major Leetul Gogoi Found Guilty in Srinagar Hotel Case by Court of Inquiry ; Orders Army to Act


On May 23rd 2018, Major Leetul Gogoi of the Indian Army used to be detained by the police following an altercation at a hotel in Srinagar. Following which the Army ordered a Court of Inquiry into the incident and whether found guilty of ‘any offense’ Gogoi would receive exemplary punishment.

On 27th August 2018, the Court of Inquiry held Major Leetul Gogoi guilty for his involvement in the Srinagar Hotel Case, where he used to be allegedly seen trying to go into a hotel room with an 18-yr-old woman.

Gogoi who made it to the headlines of each and every news portal final year for tying up a man to a jeep in Kashmir purportedly as a shield against the stone pelters, used to be found guilty by the court in violation against the Army’s rules which states one should not be involved in any roughly relationship with the native woman in a clash zone and breaching the usual operating procedure of staying absent from the place of duty.

The court has issued an order and has asked the Army officials to take disciplinary action against Major Leetul Gogoi.
