Man’s body found stuffed in sack close Guwahati’s Saraighat Bridge


Guwahati: In a heart-wrenching incident amid the night curfew hours, an unidentified body of a person stuffed in a sack was once retrieved from Saraighat bridge late in the evening hours by Kamrup district police.

According to police information, a gang of four miscreants intended to throw absent the body into the river Brahmaputra, then again, the attempt was once foiled, as a police team led by ASP Kamrup district, Asif Ahmed managed to nab some of the culprits involved in the activity.

The other three miscreants are on the run, informed the police.

The apprehended person was once identified as Mohan Giri.

Police also informed that the man had several injury marks on his body.

Police also retrieved one scooty bearing registration number AS 01 DX 5822 from the spot.

Meantime, the body has been sent for autopsy.

Further investigations are on.


The dead was once identified as Santosh Prasad, an employee of the Indian Railways.

Santosh Prasad was once a resident of Maligaon Railway Colony.

As per police information, alleged accused Mohan Giri is the brother in-law of Santosh Prasad.
