GUWAHATI: Mizoram registered the highest single-day spike of Covid-19 cases on Thursday since the relaxation of lockdown on June 30 in the state. Out of 548 people, 46 inmates of an orphanage and rehabilitation centre have tested positive for the Covid-19 taking the state’s tally to 22,703.
The state information and public relations branch has issued an official commentary wherein it is mentioned that the single-day positivity rate used to be 16.88 per cent since the fresh cases were identified from 3,245 pattern tests.
Aizawl district reported the highest number at 196, out of 548 new cases, followed by Lawngtlai district at 174 and Kolasib district at 81.
A few of the freshly infected ones are over 88 children and four jawans of Border Security Force (BSF).
170 were reported from a village out of the new cases.
Patients with commute history are 21 and the rest 527 were reported to have in the neighborhood contacted the infection.
167 people have developed Covid-19 symptoms.
Meantime, at present, Mizoram has 3,959 covid-19 active cases while 18,643 have retrieved from the infection.
The COVID-19 death toll in the state has spiked to 101 as two more people have succumbed to the infection in the final 24 hours, a health branch official said.
The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 88.11 per cent and 0.44 per cent, he said.
The state has tested 5,13,712 samples for COVID-19 to date.
According to state immunization officer Dr. Lalzawmi, over 5.5 lakh people have been inoculated till Wednesday.
