No victory celebrations at BJP party office, confirms senior BJP leaders


Guwahati: Considering the Election Commission of India (ECI) decision on ban in all victory processions on or after the counting of votes for the meeting elections, the state BJP on Sunday has determined to boycott a wide variety of victory celebrations amid the COVID crisis in the state.

The decision was once made following the surge in COVID cases in the state and Guwahati city.

The senior party workers of BJP have appealed before the members to follow the COVID-related guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The leaders have also asked its party members to steer clear of any more or less gathering at the party head office here in Guwahati.

Meantime, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has informed that at sure locations in some states, public celebrations in the context of today’s counting are being carried out which is in contravention of the instructions issued by the ECI.

The commission has further directed that the responsible SHO(s) and other officers will have to be placed under suspension immediately and initiate crook actions against the defaulters.
