Guwahati: The Assam government has started preparations to combat the conceivable third wave of COVID-19 pandemic, which, experts claimed, may impact people of different age groups at the side of children as anticipated.
Informing approximately the development throughout a press convention here in Guwahati, Assam Health Minister, Keshab Mahanta stated that the state government will be setting up around 320 pediatric intensive care units (ICU) for Covid-19 in seven medical colleges and 250 pediatric ICU in district hospitals in Assam.
The estimated budget outline will be submitted by the Public Works Branch (PWD), informed Minister Keshab Mahanta.
Speaking to the media, Minister Keshab Mahanta said, “Government of Assam has directed the Director of health service, Director of medical education and other health officials to monitor the development, as the state government is targeting to total it inside next one month.”
Notably, Gauhati medical college hospital will have 60 pediatric ICU, Nagaon civil hospital to have 30, Silchar Medical College Hospital 40, Jorhat medical college hospital 30, Assam medical college hospital 40, Barpeta medical college hospital 30, Tezpur medical college hospital 30, Lakhimpur medical college hospital 30, Diphu medical college hospital 30.
