Saina Nehwal has been keeping her Instagram circle of relatives up to date approximately her fitness regime by posting steady photos and videos of herself doing Pilates. On Wednesday, the ace shuttler and Olympic bronze medallist once again flaunted her flexibility on Insta by sharing a workout video of herself with her 1.5 million followers. In the short clip, the former world number one was once seen acing the straddle stretch exercise. The specific workout helps in adding elasticity and flexibility to the legs. “Body isn’t stiff,” Saina captioned the video. Inside a few hours of being posted, the video got over 32,000 ‘likes’. 


Final month, she had posted a photo of herself doing Pilates. “Fitness is attached to emotion,” she captioned the photo. 

Saina was once not in a position to book a quota in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics because of injury and inconsistency. With the final three Olympics qualifying events either being cancelled or postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Saina was once unable to book a berth in the Tokyo Games. 


The 31-year-old shuttler has clinched 24 international titles in her career, including 11 Superseries. She has also won silver and bronze medal at the World Championships. 

Then again, her biggest achievement came when she won the bronze medal at the 2012 London Games and, in the process, became the first female shuttler from the country to win a medal in the Olympics. 

Saina suffered a career-threatening knee injury and was once forced to bow out of the second one round of the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Two years later, alternatively, she made a significant comeback by winning her second Commonwealth Games gold medal in 2018. Saina defeated PV Sindhu in the All India Open to take the trophy home. 

At present, Saina is ranked 19th in the BWF Women’s Singles World Rankings and 14th in World Tour Rankings. She recorded her highest rankings in April 2015 when she became the world number one. She has recorded 437 wins and 200 losses in her career.
