Three BPF ministers taste dust

Guwahati: The hopes of the three Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) candidates cum cabinet ministers were completed shattered after suffering a crushing defeat against the UPPL party candidates on Sunday.

The three cabinet ministers from the BPF party are Pramila Rani Brahma, Chandan Brahma and Rihon Daimary and they contested the Assam Polls 2021 from Kokrajhar East, Sidli and Udalguri constituencies respectively.

As per the Election Commission of India (ECI) outline said, veteran leader Pramila Rani Brahma missing to UPPL candidate Lawrence Islary in the East Kokrajhar meeting seat, whereas, BPF candidate Rihon Daimary missing to UPPL candidate Govinda Chandra Basumatary in the Udalguri meeting seat.

In a similar way, Sidli BPF candidate Chandan Brahma also missing to UPPL candidate Joyanta Basumatary.

Meantime, BJP star candidate Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that all of the BPF candidates will have to have resigned from the ministry as soon as they determined to split from the coalition government to give a boost to the Congress-AIUDF led ‘Mahajot’.

“The people of Assam gave them a befitting reply. They will have to have immediately resigned from the cabinet after their party determined to split from its NDA-led coalition government and joined the Mahajot alliance,” said Himanta before the media.

It is noteworthy to mention that the BPF party has been part of the NDA-led coalition government in Assam for the final 5 years. In February this year, the party took a U-turn to be a part of the Congress-led ‘Mahajot’, a pre-poll alliance of eight parties.

Earlier, just before the meeting ballot in 2016, BPF dumped its former ally (Congress) and joined hands with the BJP.
