GUWAHATI: Assam recorded 2,534 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, to succeed in a tally of 1,38,339 cases. The new cases were out of 36,413 tests conducted in 24 hours, taking the positivity rate in the state to a high of 6.96%.
Out of the new cases, 588 are from Kamrup (M), 194 from Jorhat, 172 from Dibrugarh and 153 from Dhemaji among others.
Across the state, 2,628 patients were discharged on Friday, and 16 people succumbed to COVID-19 related infections.
Informing approximately the dead, health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “I send my deepest condolences and prayers to all bereaved families. Om Shanti.”
Meantime, the state’s overall COVID outline stands at 1,38,339 complete cases, 1,05,701 discharged cases, 32,205 actives cases, 430 deaths and 3 migrated to other states.
