GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal alerted Union Home Minister Amit Shah approximately the sequel of boundary rows along the Assam-Mizoram border on Monday.

Sonowal’s move came after one Intazul Laskar was once allegedly abducted and killed by unknown miscreants from Mizoram close the Lailapur Border Outpost area of Cachar district along the Assam-Mizoram border.

The CM also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to the next of the kin of diseased.  

At the same time, Sonowal has also asked chief secretary Jishnu Barua and DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta to hurry to the area and take inventory of the situation.

Sonowal also spoke to the Cachar district administration approximately the matter.

Expressing his concern over the boundary row, he also ordered the state police to remain alert and thwart all designs that have the potential to vitiate peace and order along the border.

Prior to now, the tension between the two sides though de-escalated after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shah interfered and asked the two states to deal with the established order, situation later became more serious with Mizoram forces allegedly camping in the Assam area.

Locals from the Assam side also staging a Road blocked on the NH 306, the lifeline of Mizoram, leaving the neighbouring state to cry for essentials for the sixth consecutive day.

While Cachar district administration in a letter to its counterparts of Mizoram’s Kolasib district questioned on the reports of Mizoram forces alleged digging of bunker-like structures and asked the later to withdraw forces from the area, Mizoram Chief Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaungo in a letter to his Assam counterpart Jishnu Barua counter questioned Assam government for not taking action against the blockade.
