GUWAHATI: A day ahead of the counting of state’s meeting polls, Kokrajhar police on Saturday seized a enormous cache of arms and ammunition from the forest area of Ultapani.
The seizure included three AK 56 rifles, one magazine and a few 65 rounds of bullets.
Kokrajhar police suspected that the arms were maybe connected to the recent robbery that occurred at Srirampur on April 26 in which unidentified gunmen looted Rs 5 lakh from a bank. Police suspected the group maybe had used these arms.
Police have also held one Pranjit Basuamatary in connection to the case and seized a 7.65 pistol and an SUV from his possession.
Kokrajhar police said they’ve already identified the other gang members and a manhunt used to be on.
