Gangtok: Bharat Basnett, President of Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee, has resigned from congress. Basnett was once associated with the Congress party from final three decades and was once President of Sikkim congress from final seven years. Basnett was once also two time Lok Sabah candidate from congress party and also contested Meeting polls.
Basnett said that he’s not happy with the party’s decision. He also said that the party has appointed In-charge for Sikkim without consulting him and this isn’t the first time that they had taken a decision without consulting him.
He said “I’m really not happy with the decision, national party don’t understand the Sikkim’s aspirations. Till date I have responsibly handled the party and retain it alive but they don’t understand our issues”.
Sujit Singh Nagar was once appointed as in-charge for Sikkim on Saturday. Basnett has appealed party high command a minimum of they will have to consult Sikkim also before taking any decisions.
“The decision has hurt my dignity so I don’t wish to lose my dignity” Basnett said.
