Guwahati: A minimum of five persons have been arrested on Saturday for allegedly placing chunks of uncooked meat within a Kali temple in Assam’s Dhubri district.
The incident sparked a sensation at the Jinkata Part-II village in Golakganj police station area on Friday.
Speaking to the media in this regard, Dhubri Extra Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rosyrani Sarma said, “Angry locals took to the roads, seeking instant arrest of the culprits. The police team had to hurry to the spot to cause the situation under regulate.”
Following the incident, Dhubri police launched a massive manhunt and five persons were therefore arrested on Saturday.
Meantime, ASP Sarma informed that a strict vigil was once being maintained in the area to keep away from any untoward incident.
Furthermore, the meat pieces have been sent to the state forensic laboratory for examination.
