Gavaskar shared a picture with Karthik and wrote “He made his India Test debut when I used to be a consultant to the Indian cricket team. Now he’s going to make his statement debut with the WTC finals. I’m certain he’s going to do polite in the box too. Good luck @dk00019 !”
The wicketkeeper-batsman thanked Gavaskar for his “blessings”. “Will be glad to be alongside you, thanks for the blessings sir,” Karthik left a remark on the legendary batsman’s post.
India are set to take on New Zealand in the World Test Championship (WTC) last, beginning at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton from June 18.
The Indian team landed at the Heathrow airport in London on Thursday and they’ll undergo a tough quarantine for three days. After completing the tough quarantine, the players will be allowed to train in small groups.
However, India’s WTC last opponents New Zealand are currently playing a two-match Test series in England.
Many Indian players including the captain Virat Kohli, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma shared pictures from the Southampton stadium’s hotel on social media to add to the excitement of the fans waiting for the cricketing action to start.
After the WTC last, India will take on England in a five-match Test series, starting on August 4 with the last Test match to start on September 10.
