With India set to face New Zealand in the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) last, Virat Kohli will have a immense task in hand as he’s going to be aiming to win his first ICC trophy as national team captain. The final time Kohli won a ICC title as skipper used to be when he captained the Indian U-19 team in the 2008 U-19 World Cup. Giving fans a glimpse of his pre-match preparations, ICC posted a video on Instagram, which showed the batsman practicing his drives. The video used to be captioned as, “@virat.kohli fine-tuning the drives ahead of #WTC21 Last “.

The WTC last is scheduled to start from June 18 at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton. To gain match practice, Team India could also be currently playing an intra-squad match. Unlike India, New Zealand will be coming into the fixture with some proper game time under their belt, after a two-match Test series vs England.

India arrived in England on June 3 and served a mandatory three-day quarantine at the on-site hotel. After the WTC last, India will face England in a five-match Test series.

Promoted

Kohli used to be final seen in action throughout the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season, which used to be postponed halfway through the season because of rise in COVID-19 cases. The tournament used to be also hard-hit with some high-profile cases.

IPL 2021 is set to renew in the September-October window, and will be held at the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
